Minister of Commerce Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana held a decisive working session on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, with the High Commissioner of Canadian and the École Nationale Supérieure Polytechnique de Yaoundé (ENSPY) to establish innovative migration cooperation.

The meeting laid the foundations for a secure “labor mobility” scheme aimed at curbing illegal immigration while promoting organized talent movement between Cameroon and Canada.
Under the partnership, young talents will undergo rigorous training at ENSPY according to international standards in high-demand sectors. Priority will first be given to satisfying the needs of Cameroonian companies, ensuring that national industries benefit from the newly acquired skills.
Only the surplus of qualified professionals will then be oriented toward opportunities in the Canadian labor market.
The project capitalizes on the well-established technical excellence of Polytechnique Yaoundé, particularly in cutting-edge fields such as digital technology, civil engineering, and other engineering disciplines. This strategic approach seeks to professionalize
Cameroonian youth, reduce irregular migration risks, and create structured pathways for legal mobility.
Yaoundé and Ottawa intend to transform traditional migration flows into a genuine driver of shared economic growth. While facilitating temporary or targeted placements abroad, the scheme strongly emphasizes the preservation of Cameroon’s essential human capital necessary for the country’s emergence and long-term development.
This initiative marks a strategic step toward turning skilled migration into a true win-win opportunity. It combines capacity building at home, targeted local employment, and selective international deployment, ultimately strengthening bilateral ties and offering young Cameroonians safer, more predictable professional prospects.
