The Speaker of Cameroon’s National Assembly Theodore Datouo, accompanied by a large delegation of parliamentarians, has paid a courtesy visit to the Lamidat of Maroua in honour of late veteran politician Cavayé Yéguié Djibril.The delegation was received by traditional ruler Sa Majesté Abdoulaye Yerima Bakary, who described the visit as a symbolic gesture of respect toward the memory of the former National Assembly speaker.According to the monarch, the visit reflects the recognition by state institutions of Cavayé Yéguié Djibril’s long political service and contributions to the country.He said the late statesman, now “with his ancestors,” remained an important figure whose legacy continues to command respect.The meeting also highlighted the close relationship between traditional authorities and republican institutions in preserving values of memory, unity and national commitment.
